This paper presents a general, process-based model for suspended particulate matter (SPM) in defined coastal areas (the ecosystem scale). The model is based on ordinary differential equations and the calculation time (dt) is 1 month to reflect seasonal variations. The model has been tested using data from 17 Baltic coastal areas of different character and shown to predict mean .   The main barriers for the use of outcome‐based approaches in land‐sea planning are reliable models and data that can predict how the type and quantity of threats impact a marine ecosystem. Moving away from threat‐based towards outcome‐based approaches is an area of further research that is making substantial progress as the field.

This report reviews the methods available for assessing the impacts of interactions between species and fisheries and their implications for marine fisheries management. A brief description of the various modelling approaches currently in existence is provided, highlighting in particular features of these models which have general relevance to the field of the ecosystem approach to fisheries.   (). This topic was explored using a range of methods including reviews of the literature, model. Aquatic Pollution: An Introductory Text, Edition 4 - Ebook written by Edward A. Laws.
